North Central Transit Service Review (TSR)

What we've done so far

Final 2026 route changes

After an extensive review of bus service in the north-central part of the city, and customer feedback about our proposed routes, we have finalized the route changes that will begin August 31, 2026

The final route changes are designed to serve more people, improve efficiency, and better support a wider range of travel needs.

Changes to Express Routes

As part of these changes, Calgary Transit is transitioning express route service. Based on customer feedback, this will occur in phases.

Express route service in the North Central area will begin transitioning this fall, with service reduced to one trip per day in each direction. Further changes will follow in future service updates as Calgary Transit continues to monitor ridership.

The Transit Service Review Process

North Central TSR

The North Central TSR includes bus routes that serve several communities. Our goals for this area are to:

  • Leverage new MAX Green investments
  • Better align the regular route network with high schools and other major destinations
  • Improve service levels in the communities of North Central
  • Adjust routes in the area to align with the primary transit network (PTN), as outlined in RouteAhead
  • Optimize the network to align with Network Design Principles, as outlined in RouteAhead

Comprehensive review of current transit service

Our first steps for this area were to review:

  • How well the routes align with Route Ahead principles,
  • The performance and ridership of every route,
  • Current Transit coverage in the area,
  • Expected community growth
  • Areas with duplicate or overlapping bus service
  • School catchments and School Express Route use,
  • Important destinations and how well they are covered by Transit
  • Feedback from operators about each route
  • Feedback received from customers about each route (through 3-1-1, our call centre, our ‘contact us’ page, social media, etc.)
  • Comments and concerns from area councillors
