Fall Service Changes

We review our bus routes and schedules throughout the year to see if there are areas where we can improve service. Several factors are taken into consideration - including feedback from our customers and drivers, ridership levels, and changing traffic patterns - to ensure we’re meeting the needs of Calgarians.

On Demand in Springbank Hill replaced with fixed-route service

After a successful pilot of On Demand transit service in Springbank Hill communities since October 2020, ridership in this area has increased to a level supporting fixed-route service. The introduction of fixed-route service will include three new routes, listed below. These new routes will be similar to but not exactly the same as routes that served the area before October 2020. Existing Routes 93 – Coach Hill/Westbrook Station, 98 - Cougar Ridge, 111 – Old Banff Coach Road, and 156 – Aspen Woods will remain unchanged. Please view the map of new fixed-route service in Springbank Hill. On Demand service will continue in Livingston and Carrington.

New fixed routes added:

Route 51 - West Springs/Discovery Ridge
(replacing current Route 453 - West Springs)
Route 94 - Strathcona/Signal Hill
Route 164 - Aspen Summit/Richmond Terminal

The following stops will be permanently closed:

#3703 - Northbound 77 Street @ Wentworth Drive S.W. (Route 453)
#3710 - Northbound 77 Street @ 10 Avenue S.W. (Route 453)

17 Avenue bus stop optimization

We’re changing some of our bus stop locations along 17 Avenue SW to provide a faster, more reliable service while still maintaining convenient access.

These changes impact the following routes*:

Route 2 – Mt. Pleasant/Killarney/17 Ave
Route 6 – Killarney/26 Avenue
Route 7 - Marda Loop
School express route 698 – 17 Ave/Western Canada/St. Mary’s

*The routes themselves are not changing – just the stop locations.

The following stops will be permanently closed:

#5135 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ Richmond Road S.W. (Route 2 and 698)
#7294 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ 9 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 6 and 698)
#7587 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ 2 Street S.W. (Route 6)
#7931 – Westbound 17 Avenue @ 2 Street S.W. (Routes 7 and 698)
#7936 – Westbound 17 Avenue @ 9 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 7 and 698)

The following stops will be permanently relocated:

#7920 – Eastbound 17 Avenue @ 12 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 6 and 698) will move to the far side of 11 Street SW)
#7922 – Eastbound 17 Avenue S.W. @ 10 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 6 and 698) will move to the far side of 9A Street SW)
#7940 – Westbound 17 Avenue @ 9 Street S.W. (Routes 2, 7 and 698) will more to the far side of 11 Street SW)

Schedules are coming soon. These changes come into effect on Monday, September 4.

Route changes

Route	Description
Route 305 - Bowness/City Centre	Route 305 is being cancelled. Service will be consolidated into Route 1, which will operate more frequently during weekday peak periods. Most current customers of Route 305 will be able to use Route 1. Customers travelling to Bowfort Rd will have alternate service available on Route 53.
Route 408 - Valley Ridge	Route 408 will be realigned and renamed Route 108 – Paskapoo Slopes. It will be more direct and save time through the Winsport area. The route will take the new 1 Avenue SW underpass connection under the West Calgary Ring Road. Route 108 – Paskapoo Slopes will operate more frequently and reduce travel times for residents in Crestmont and Valley Ridge. Please view the new route map and schedule for Route 108.
Route 51 - West Springs	Route 51 is a new route that will replace the current Route 453 - West Springs. This route will travel from West Springs to Discovery Ridge without requiring a transfer at 69 Street Station. Route 51 – West Springs/Discovery Ridge will use 73 Street SW rather than 77 Street SW to improve coverage in the West Springs area. A new 8:04 a.m. trip has been added to leave 69 Street W Station. Please note this trip will not show on our app or web tools until mid October. Please view the new route map and schedule.
Route 453 - West Springs	Route cancelled. Replaced with new Route 51 - West Springs/Discovery Ridge. Please view the route map and schedule for Route 51.
Route 94 - Strathcona/Signal Hill	Route 94 is a new fixed route that is replacing On Demand service in Strathcona Park and Signal Hill. Please view the new route map and schedule.
Route 164 - Aspen Summit/Richmond Terminal	Route 164 - Aspen Summit/Richmond Terminal is a new route that is replacing On Demand service in the area. The new Route 164 will connect Aspen Summit with Signal Hill and Richmond Terminal. Please view the new route map and schedule.

Route 3 - Sandstone / Elbow Dr	Southbound weekday morning 6-7 minute peak service frequency has been extended to 8:40 a.m. Northbound weekday afternoon 6-7 minute peak service frequency has been extended to 5 p.m. from downtown. Route 4 - Huntington	Weekday service frequency has been improved to every 20-22 minutes. Weekend service frequency has been improved to every 24-26 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 5 - North Haven	Weekday mid-day service frequency has been improved to every 20 minutes, and to every 23 minutes in the evenings. Weekend service frequency has been improved to every 24-26 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 8 - North Pointe/ Foothills Medical Centre	Southbound weekday morning 5-6 minute peak service frequency has been extended to 8:05 a.m. Northbound weekday afternoon 10 minute peak service frequency has been extended to 4:02 p.m. from downtown. Southbound weekday afternoon 5-6 minute peak service frequency has been extended to 4:10 p.m. School trips have been restored. Please view the revised schedule.

Route 10 - City Hall / South Centre	Weekend service frequency has been improved to every 30 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.

Route 20 - Heritage / Northmount	Weekday morning and afternoon peak service frequency has been improved to every 13-14 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 23 - 52 Street E	Weekday morning and afternoon peak service frequency has been improved to every 10-15 minutes, and every 20 minutes mid-day and evenings. School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted. Weekend service frequency has been improved to every 24 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 28 - Deer Run	Weekend service frequency has been improved to every 30 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 32 - Huntington/ Sunridge	Weekday morning and afternoon peak service frequency has been improved to every 15-17 minutes, and every 30 minutes on weekends. Trip times have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 33 - Vista Heights/ Rundle	Weekday trip times have been adjusted for improved schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 34 - Pineridge	Weekday service has been extended until 7:45 p.m. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 38 - Brentwood Station/Temple	Weekday morning and afternoon peak frequency has been improved to every 14 minutes, every 17 minutes mid-day, and every 19 minutes in the evenings. School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 42 - Marlborough	Weekday morning and afternoon peak frequency has been improved to every 11-15 minutes. School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted. Weekend service frequency has been adjusted to every 35-40 minutes between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 43 - McKnight - Westwinds Station/Chinook Station	School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 46 - Beddington	Weekday morning and afternoon peak frequency has been adjusted to every 15-17 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 48 - Rundle	School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 49 - Forest Heights	Weekday morning peak service frequency has been adjusted to every 14 minutes, afternoon peak frequency to every 10-15 minutes. School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 51 - Westhills / Discovery Ridge	Route 51 is a new route that will replace the current Route 453 - West Springs. This route will travel from West Springs to Discovery Ridge without requiring a transfer at 69 Street Station. Route 51 – West Springs/Discovery Ridge will use 73 Street SW rather than 77 Street SW to improve coverage in the West Springs area. A new 8:04 a.m. trip has been added to leave 69 Street W Station. Route 53 - Brentwood - Greenwood	Weekday and weekend service frequency will continue to be every 31 minutes. Weekend service frequency adjusted to every 31 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 57 - Monterey Park / McCall Way	Weekday morning peak times have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 58 - Erin Woods/ 44 Street SE	Weekday morning peak service frequency has been revised to every 15 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 59 - Savanna	Weekday off-peak service frequency has been adjusted to every 37 minutes to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 67 - Memorial Drive East	Weekend service frequency after 6 p.m. has been improved to every 25 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 68 - 68 Street East	School trips have been removed and weekday schedules have been adjusted. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 71 - Taradale	Weekday service frequency has been improved to every 16 minutes, and 25 minutes on weekends. Trip times have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 76 - Hawkwood	School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 82 - Nolan Hill	New weekend service will run until 8 p.m. Weekday morning southbound and afternoon northbound peak service frequency has been improved to every 15-19 minutes. Route 83 - Parkland	Weekend service frequency has been improved to every 30 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 85 - Martin Crossing	Weekday off-peak and weekend service frequency has been improved to every 25 minutes. Trip times have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 87 - Applewood/ 17 Ave SE	School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted. Weekend service frequency after 6 p.m. has been improved to every 30 minutes. Please review the advised schedule.

Route 90 - Bridgeland / Univeristy of Calgary	Weekday morning and afternoon peak frequency has been improved to every 25 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.

Route 99 - Acadia / Oakridge	Weekend service frequency has been improved to every 30 minutes. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 100 - North Pointe / Airport / McKnight	Weekend service frequency has been adjusted to every 30-32 minutes to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 104 - Sunnyside / University of Calgary	A new stop has been added on Eastbound Kensington RD @ 25 ST NW (#5040). Please view the revised schedule.
Route 105 - Dalhousie - Lions Park	School trips have been restored and weekday schedules have been adjusted. Please view the schedule.
Route 108 - Paskapoo Slopes	Route 408 will be realigned and renamed Route 108 – Paskapoo Slopes. It will be more direct and save time through the Winsport area. The route will take the new 1 Avenue SW underpass connection under the West Calgary Ring Road. Route 108 – Paskapoo Slopes will operate more frequently and reduce travel times for residents in Crestmont and Valley Ridge. Route 299 - Arbour Lake	Weekday and weekend trip times have been adjusted to improve schedule adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 300 - Airport/ City Centre	Weekday service frequency has been improved to every 22-26 minutes, and to every 28-32 minutes on weekends. Trip times have been adjusted to improve scheudle adherence. Please view the revised schedule.
Route 301 - BRT North	Weekend morning and afternoon peak service frequency has been improved to every 5 minutes, and every 16 minutes all-day on weekends. Please view the revised schedule.

Route 502 - Heritage Park Shuttle	Service has been removed.
Routes 696-899 School Expresses	All school routes will be reintroduced for the 2023-2024 school year. Routes and schedules will be posted soon.
