Important Change to App Payments

We're changing carriers for the payment system in our apps. The change will require you to enter your address along with your credit card information (instead of just your postal code). We’re also adding Google Wallet and Apple Pay to Transit app, and Google Wallet to My Fare.

This comes into effect Tuesday, May 14th

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is the change being implemented and what does this mean for me?

  • We’ve changed carriers for our payment system.
  • By requiring you to enter your full address, it adds another layer of verification to ensure that the person making the purchase is the legitimate account holder. This helps reduce the risk of unauthorized transactions.
  • Fraud Prevention: With the full address on file, it becomes more difficult for fraudulent users to make purchases using stolen payment information. It provides an additional data point for authentication and helps detect suspicious activity.

Will this change affect the ticket purchasing process in any other way?

No. You just need to add your address when you purchase fare products.

How will this change impact my user experience?

This is one extra step to take when purchasing fare products, but with enhanced security it is well worth it.

Will my personal information be stored securely

My Fare is fully certified and compliant with Payment Card Industry standards (PCI-DSS). All payments communication is fully encrypted via SSL, any sensitive data stored is highly encrypted and systems are constantly monitored for security vulnerabilities.

Can I opt out of providing my full address?

No. This is now a required field when making a payment. You also have the option to use Google Wallet and Apple Pay if you prefer.
